Dagon, also dubbed Species 5146_ADAM, was a Titan in the MonsterVerse created by Legendary Pictures who was introduced 2019 comic, Godzilla: Aftershock. A member of Godzilla's species, Dagon was defeated and infected by the parasitic MUTO Prime after a battle in ancient times. Eventually dying from the parasitic infection, Dagon's corpse continued to house the spores of the two MUTOs that would go on to hatch and lead to the events of Godzilla.
In Godzilla: Aftershock, at least two different human cultures worshipped Dagon. One group, which was Phoenician in origin, referred to him as Dagon, which would become his official namesake. The second group, which was Japanese in origin, referred to him as Raijin, meaning "thunder god".[1]
Monarch initially refers to Dagon as Species 5146_ADAM.[2]
Design
Appearance
As a member of the same species, Dagon shared many physical traits with Godzilla. This includes a bipedal posture, jagged dorsal plates, dark coarse skin, yellow eyes, gills, wide feet, a robust head and short forearms.
Personality
Dagon did not exhibit much of a personality, but it appears that he had a tolerance for humans, allowing them to get close to him. When he spotted MUTO Prime, the arch-rival of his species, he immediately engaged her in hopes of killing her.
In the year 1100 BCE, Dagon encountered and fought with the parasitic MUTO Prime. After a brief fight, Dagon was beaten to the brink of death by MUTO Prime, who then proceeded to implant her eggs into Dagon's stomach lining before immediately burrowing underground. Dagon recovered and retreated into the ocean, but his fate had already been sealed. The parasitic eggs slowly gestated inside of Dagon's body, steadily draining him of his nuclear-rich blood, which eventually killed him.
In 1999, Dagon's skeleton was discovered following a mine collapse in the Philippines, as would the remains of the eggs laid in him. Ishiro Serizawa and Vivienne Graham would be present, overlooking the creature's massive ribs and a subsequent hole dug out of the mountain wall, with a trail of destruction leading to the Pacific Ocean.
Abilities
Atomic breath
Like Godzilla, Dagon was capable of using atomic breath; due to having a bio-nuclear circulatory system.[3]
Strength and combat
As a Titanus Gojira, Dagon possessed immense physical strength comparable to MUTO Prime.[4] Although a formidable combatant, Dagon was ultimately defeated by MUTO Prime in their battle.
Durability
Dagon had thick scaly hide that protected him from most general attacks. During his battle with MUTO Prime, Dagon was subdued and injected with parasitic eggs. Dagon would recover from the battle; but would go on to die after an unspecified amount of time; due to the parasitic infection; draining him of his nuclear-rich blood.
Amphibious nature
Dagon had gills on his neck that allowed him to breathe underwater. As a member of Titanus Gojira, he had an amphibious lifestyle and would propel himself through the water with his tail by lateral wave-like motions, as Godzilla does.
Weaknesses
Electromagnetic pulse
As with Godzilla, Dagon's atomic breath would be significantly weakened by the MUTO's specially evolved EMP. The EMP dampens the bio-electric spark that ignites the atomic breath, giving it a weaker wispy appearance, or outright disabling it.
Sonic roar
Dagon's dorsal plates would instantly shatter if hit by MUTO Prime's sonic roar, which evolved to resonate at a frequency capable of shattering Gojira dorsal plates.
